Note that disabling devmode alone is not enough to remove the widgets from the Mac desktop, you have to do that manually using the above method.Īgain, if widgets are still on the desktop after devmode is turned off, it’s because you didn’t move them back to Dashboard beforehand. It doesn’t hurt to leave devmode on, but to turn it off again by setting the NO flag to YES. Repeat that process for multiple widgets.
To remove the widget from the desktop, first reverse the process by which they were added: Since the widgets will float above other documents, it’s best not to overdo it and maybe stick to one or two that are particularly useful or interesting. Place the widget on the desktop as desired, an inconspicuous place is ideal because although the widget is now on the desktop, it will still float above other windows and apps, including things like Launchpad and Mission Control.
Click and hold a widget, and while holding down the widget, press F4 again.
